Stories from the Community
We are inviting speakers from communities across BC to share stories about the work they are doing—work that is inspiring, mobilizing, or supporting the communities they serve.
Speakers will consider and talk about specific examples of how their work relates to reconciliation (e.g., reclamation, fostering relationships) and what sort of things we can consider as we move forward on our own personal paths toward reconciliation (e.g., things that we as community social service organizations, agency staff, or even individuals can start doing, stop doing, or do differently).
Each speaker will be invited to share their story with a small table group of 10-12 conference participants. These participants will listen to and “harvest” key information from the story—either by taking notes or holding key insights in their mind. After the speakers have finished telling their stories, it will be the participants’ turn to share what the ideas and inspirations they “harvested” for further discussion and clarification.
As a group, we will all come together and compare how each speaker’s harvest affected participants, what they had in common, and what ideas resonated the most. Each participant will leave with informed and inspiring ideas, changes, and actions to take back to your communities across the province.
