Organizations are increasingly encouraging frontline staff to participate in boundary workshops for professional development – how can managers and administrators support frontline workers in this practice?

In this workshop hosted by the BC Council for Families, managers will learn to see common communication issues, conflicts, and workplace dynamics through a boundary lens, with a view to creating a “boundary-informed” culture at work.

A boundary-informed workplace is one that cultivates and supports healthy boundaries and integrated self-care for all. Managers will learn about their own boundary styles and patterns of relating, how to practice and model boundaries specifically in their role as a manager, and how to support staff in their own boundary practice and goals.

Learning Outcomes

  • Recognize and distinguish between Vague, Rigid and Healthy Boundary patterns in both frontline staff and managers
  • Recognize these patterns of relating as expressed in conflict styles at work
  • More effectively communicate, offer feedback and manage staff with greater insight into workplace relationships and dynamics
  • Cultivate and support a boundary-informed work environment

This training is designed for Managers, Program Coordinators, Volunteer Coordinators, and/or any human service worker or helping professional who supervises, manages, coordinates, trains or provides support to other human service workers.
