1 Permanent Part-Time position: 18 hours per week, Monday to Thursday
(3:30 PM to 8:00 PM) with an occasional Friday
3 Permanent Casual/On-Call positions: Monday to Friday

Job Summary:
Under the guidance of the Community Living Supervisor and through active team collaboration, the Child and Youth Support Worker is responsible to assist children and youth with diverse abilities, aged 8 to 18, participate in a group setting. The goal is to further enhance an individual’s social skills as they participate in recreational activities within the STAR Club and in their community. The Child and Youth Support Worker will also be responsible for assisting interested youth aged 16 to 18 years of age, to prepare for future employment, including skills training development and volunteer work experience. This position includes connecting our individuals served to community programs, resources, and activities, with the intention to further improving their self-confidence and ability to interact with their peers and community members in a variety of settings.
- Well-developed interpersonal teaching skills, oral and written communication skills.
- Able to work with persons with disabilities in an inclusive, non-judgmental, and patient manner.
- Able to work in a collaborative team setting.
- Self-motivated and able to take initiative.
- Able to use Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong planning, organizing, and time management skills; able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent relationship building and networking skills; able to build positive and trusting working relationships.
- Able to solve problems and adapt to changes in physical, emotional and health needs, as needed.
- Ability for light to moderate physical exertion in participating in social and recreational activities with individuals.
Wage: $27.54 per hour (CSSEA JJEP evaluation).
- 1 Permanent Part-Time position at 18 hours per week, availability Mondays to Thursdays with the occasional Friday, from 3:30 PM - 8:00 PM.
- 3 Permanent Casual/On-Call positions: Monday to Friday.

- Identifying and offering social, recreational and skill building opportunities that are reflective of individual’s interests, providing support, guidance, and instruction to encourage participation.
- Collaborating with team in planning day-to-day activities and following through with designated activities while balancing adaptability as needed.
- Assisting each person to develop, execute, and maintain an Individual Service Plan, which is reflective of their personal goals through assessments and in conjunction with MCFD outcomes. All individual Services Plans are reviewed and evaluated for progress, with the flexibility to adjust goals as needed.
- Engaging and communicating respectfully and clearly with clients, colleagues, caregivers, and others.
- Communicating respectfully to caregivers regarding the client’s program needs and any issues that may arise.
This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with children and families, can work collaboratively with a team, and has excellent relationship building skills.
- Diploma in a human service-related field and one year recent and related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Behavioural Interventionist training is an asset.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) and/or Mandt is required.
- Valid First Aid with CPR/AED Certification or willingness to obtain one.
- Valid Class 5 BC Drivers’ License, and a clear Driver’s Abstract.
- Able to assist children/youth, their families, and caregivers in navigating challenging situations.
- A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is a condition of employment.
