Save the date: Human trafficking awareness training coming to communities across B.C.
To help strengthen the sector's knowledge and capacity, the Federation, in partnership with Children of the Street, is pleased to offer a new in-person training opportunity, Human Trafficking 101, for social service professionals this fall.
This two-hour course provides a comprehensive overview of human trafficking, including how trafficking occurs, how to recognize the signs, the legal framework and practical approaches to supporting youth affected by human trafficking or sexual exploitation. Delivered by a CARF-accredited program, the training follows a trauma-informed, client-centred approach. Participants who successfully complete a competency-based assessment will receive a certificate of completion, which helps with CARF accreditation.
Meet the facilitator
The training will be led by Neeru Muker, community educator with Children of the Street.
Over the past decade, Neeru has dedicated her career to supporting women and youth affected by gender-based violence and exploitation. Since joining Children of the Street in 2023, she has delivered more than 100 workshops to over 2,000 participants and has directly supported more than 100 youth and families impacted by human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
She also collaborates with community and sector partners through regional roundtables to strengthen prevention efforts and improve supports for those affected.
