We are honoured to co-host Non-Profit North with Vantage Point.
Vantage Point is a British Columbia non-profit that serves other BC non-profits. They convene, connect, and equip leaders to lift organizational capacity and elevate the non-profit sector.
About
Non-Profit North is a new conference and professional development opportunity specific to non-profit organizations working across Northern British Columbia.
Co-hosted by Vantage Point and The Federation of Community Social Services of BC, Non-Profit North will focus on the unique challenges faced by non-profits working in the North. Conference sessions will provide opportunities to network, connect and collaborate on regional issues, and learn how you can better support your organization’s mission and goals.
Learning Objectives
The goal of Non-Profit North is to create space for conversations that are specific to non-profit organizations in the north. Participants can expect to:
- Connect with leaders and colleagues who are based in the North and who understand the unique nature of non-profit work in the North;
- Learn from thought leaders, experts, and distinguished researchers; and
- Be inspired to find solutions and continue this important work.
Pricing
Conference: $100.00
Price includes the welcome reception the evening of Wednesday, May 8th, and conference sessions and networking reception on Thursday, May 9th.
Agenda Highlights
Please view the agenda HERE. Highlights so far include:
- Dr. Dustin Louie. Dr Louie is a First Nations scholar from Nee Tahi Buhn and Nadleh Whut’en of central British Columbia. He is a member of the Beaver Clan. He is Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Studies at the University of British Columbia and the Director of the NITEP Indigenous Teacher Education program.
- An overview and discussion based on Vantage Point’s State of the Sector Survey lead by Zahra Esmail, Chief Executive Officer, Vantage Point, and Prairie Chiu, Director of Engagement and Advocacy, Vantage Point.
- Engaging with Ministry of Children and Family Development: An Update and Listening Session with Kim Lyster.
- Suncha Baptiste, Counsellor, Learning Coach for the BC Hub for Workplace Mental Health, and Manager of Education, Federation of Community Social Services.
- Better Together: A Gathering of Northern Community Social Services. This pre-conference session, taking place May 8, will bring the Northern community social services sector together to reconnect, share updates, and strengthen the collective understanding of the needs of children, youth, and families being served in the North. Federation Travel Subsidy
Travel funds are available for Fed Members.

Cancellations
Please review our Cancellation Policy below before registering for the conference.
Event Payment & Cancellation Policy
1. If you register online and you choose the “pay by cheque” option, your registration confirmation is your invoice, and payment is due upon receipt. Please ensure that your payment reaches The Federation office PRIOR to the date of the event. If payment is not received within 30 days after the start of the event (by June 10, 2024), you will be invoiced an additional $25.00 administration fee.
2. Registrants who cancel 30+ days prior to the event (by April 9, 2024) will receive a refund less the $25.00 per person administration fee. Registrants who cancel 15-29 days prior to the event (April 10 – 24, 2024) will receive a 50% refund less the $25.00 per person administration fee. There will be no refund issued if cancellation occurs within 0-14 days of the event (April 25 – May 9, 2024).
3. If you register online and choose the “pay by cheque” option and do not cancel within the above-noted time frames (see #2), you are responsible for the registration fee and will be invoiced accordingly.
4. Registrations are transferable to a different person for the same event. Please contact The Federation office for assistance with this. Registrations are not transferable to another event.
5. Registrations made after the online closing date and non-registered at-door arrivals (space permitting) will be invoiced at the full event rate plus a $25.00 per person administration fee.
6. Credit card payment is accepted online only and is not accepted at the door.
